The Mother of God in the Częstochowa Icon returned from Stalowa Wola midway through the following week and once again stood in the presbytery of the Church of St. Casimir the Prince in Gdańsk Zaspa. This was due to the upcoming 14th March for Life and Family in Gdańsk on June 21st and the 5th Festival of Life, to which she had been invited by the organizers.
The Knights of Columbus from the Gdańsk Local Council once again took over the Icon's care, considering the protection of human life from conception to natural death one of their hallmark missions. They surrounded the Częstochowa Icon, which was traveling with the intention of protecting the civilization of life and love, with a solemn escort in formal attire, swords at their sides, carrying Her on their shoulders throughout the march. It made a huge impression, just like during the National March for Life in Warsaw.
The march began with a five-hour adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in St. Mary's Basilica. Participants gathered at the Royal Chapel in the center of the Old Town. At 3:00 PM, the gathering recited the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, after which Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda, Metropolitan of Gdańsk, delivered a speech. He welcomed the gathered in simple words, expressing his joy at this shared witness of faith and the protection of life. He then walked in the front row, carrying a large banner alongside the young people, opening the march. Large crowds of participants participated in the Gdańsk March for Life and Family, significantly larger than in previous years.
The March for Life and Family passed through Grobla and Szeroka Streets, Targ Drzewny, Wały Jagiellońskie, Podwale Grodzkie, then through Błędnik and 3 Maja St. to Plac Zebrań Ludowych (People's Meeting Square), where the 5th Festival for Life was organized.
After the festival, the Icon was returned to the Church of St. Casimir in Gdańska Zaspa, where She is fully accessible to the faithful who wish to visit and pray through Her.
