On October 16, I brought the pilgrim icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa to my home parish of St. Thomas More in Fairfield, New Jersey. Fr. James Manos, the Pastor, was raised in the Greek Orthodox faith before entering the Catholic Church as an adult, so he has a great understanding and appreciation of icons. He also speaks out consistently in defense of life, and has been very supportive of me and the work of Human Life International.

On Friday October 15, the Feast of St. Theresa of Avila, the pilgrim icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa visited Avila on the Hudson - the Motherhouse of the Carmelite Sisters of the Aged and Infirm.
The pilgrim icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa visited St. Mary’s and Sacred Heart Churches in Newburgh, New York on October 14-15.
Newburgh is located 60 miles north of New York City, and was General George Washington’s headquarters during the American Revolution. It was here that George Washington vigorously rejected a proposal that he become something like an American monarch.
I’ve had lots of memorable experiences during the peregrination of the pilgrim icon of Our Lady of Czestochowa, but one of the most unusual was the motorcycle escort we received from St. Joseph’s Church in Middletown, New York to an abortion facility in Hackensack, New Jersey by the Husaria Polish Motorcycle Club. Husaria is named after the Polish Hussars who fought to relieve the City of Vienna from attack by the Ottoman Turks at the Battle of Vienna on September 12, 1683.
